Make Chlorine dioxide solution at a strength of 24,000 PPM with this kit. Includes 4 ounces of Part A (28% Sodium Chlorite) and Part B (4% HCL) Supplied in PET Plastic bottles with Glass droppers. 4% hydrochloric acid has become the standard for activating sodium chlorite. Our dropper bulbs for the HCL bottles are made of Flouroglazed Thermoplastic Elastomer and are acid proof. These are custom ordered and somewhat expensive but worth it. Any other bulb material will degrade quite rapidly when exposed the 4% hydrochloric acid.

Included is one 1.5oz bottle of Lugol’s Iodine with glass dropper
There are two primary chemicals used to purify water: Iodine and chlorine dioxide. Both are lightweight, low cost and easy to use. Iodine has been proven effective in killing off viruses, bacteria and protozoa. However, the colder the water is, the more time it will take to purify with both iodine and chlorine dioxide.

Lugol's Iodine is a solution that contains iodine and potassium iodide dissolved in water. It is historically known for its antiseptic and disinfectant properties and has been used for various purposes, including water purification. However, there are important considerations to using Lugol's Iodine for water purification:

Disinfection Properties: Iodine is effective at killing many types of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and some parasites, making it a strong candidate for disinfecting water. The best way to make water safe is by doing more than 1 type of treatment.
Iodine Concentration: Lugol's Iodine solution typically contains a high concentration of iodine, which is effective for water disinfection. However, the appropriate concentration and dosage need to be carefully determined to ensure effective water treatment.
Taste and Odor: Iodine-treated water can have an unpleasant taste and odor, which may make it less palatable for drinking. One can remove the iodine taste of the purified water by adding vitamin C (about 50 milligrams) to the iodized water.  This will completely eliminate any taste or color of iodine. You must wait until the iodine has purified the water before adding the vitamin C, about 30 minutes. The vitamin C in a drink mix like Tang™ has the same effect.

Health Considerations: While iodine is effective for disinfection, excessive consumption of iodine can have negative health effects, particularly on the thyroid gland. Long-term consumption of iodine-treated water may not be suitable for individuals with certain health conditions, such as thyroid disorders or iodine sensitivity.

Residual Iodine: Unlike some other water purification methods, such as chlorine dioxide, iodine does not have a lasting residual disinfectant effect on water. This means that the water, for emergency purposes, should be treated immediately before consumption.
Instructions: Add five drops of 2% tincture of iodine to each quart or liter of water that you are disinfecting. If the water is cloudy or colored, add 10 drops of iodine. Stir and let the water stand for at least 30 minutes before use.
Unlike other sellers, we provide our CDS kits with different colored bottles to avoid confusion when mixing the solutions. Some have questioned the use of clear bottles with hydrochloric acid. Hydrochloric acid is not light sensitive and does not degrade from exposure to light as sodium chlorite does.

Please Note: PET plastic (polyethylene terephthalate) unlike other types of plastic, PET plastic is not single-use -- it is recyclable, versatile, and made to be remade. There are no chemical phthalates or bisphenol A (BPA) in PET plastic, and therefore PET plastic does not leach these substances. PET plastic is approved as safe for food and beverage contact by FDA and similar regulatory agencies throughout the world, and has been for more than 30 years. It is BPA free, clear, strong, lightweight and 100% recyclable plastic.
